John 21:15-17 A Remembered Event

15 ¶So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.
16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him,Feed my sheep.
Well-told Story - This is related as an emotional time for the followers of Christ. He has recently returned from the dead and this passage captures the love that is felt between Peter and Christ. Although it is just a passage it is well told.well told.
Vivid Description - There is a vivid description of the emotions involved in this conversation, especially between Peter and Jesus as Peter is grieved because he came to him a third time to ask him if he loves him.
Autobiographical Significance - The point the writer is trying to make is in two areas. First this is an emotional significant experience between Peter and Jesus and occurs after Peter had denied Christ three times, this is also relating the significance of the message from Jesus as he says three separate times to feed his sheep. Obviously an important message.

Luke 2:8-14 Profile Genre

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

This is the profile genre because it includes Detailed Information about the subject, such as "shepherds abiding in the field" and "the glory of the Lord shone round about them".
Clear Logical Organization is evident by the description of the profile before the angel arrives and throughout the experience of the angel visiting the shepherds.  Also, it makes mention that it is the day of the Savior's birth.
The Writer's Role is as a detached observer.  Although Luke was not actually there, he related this profile based on his direct interaction with the Savior during His lifetime.
Perspective on the Subject - Luke is profiling an event that had already occurred and takes the perspective of the significance of angels appearing to shepherds on the day the Savior is born.
